No exploring today, thank you

While I was making dinner, I heard Peanut having an argument in the next room.

There was a polite: "Do you want to?" from the other little girl, that was met by a delightfully sweet "No, thank you" from Peanut.

Then there was a "come on!" from the lassie, met by another demure "no, thank you, I don't want to" from Peanut.

And finally, undeterred, an "everybody! Let's go!" from the girl....to which Peanut responded by having a complete and utter meltdown. There was foot stomping, there was screaming, there was a particularly loud "I said NO! I said I DON'T WANT TO!!    *huge pause for breath*      MUUUMMMMYYYY!!!!!"

I should probably explain to Peanut that the kids in the TV can't actually hear her. But that aside: Dora the Explorer really is a pushy little broad!

  1. Ha ha ha... I loathe Dora...

I would be doubly impressed if Peanut refused Dora's offer in both English and Spanish...

  2. Funny! Maybe they should rename her "Dora the Bully" if she's going to just go and push everyone around like that!

  4. LOL. Best laugh all day. Thanks!

(Caillou was the one who ticked me off most. Even now that my son is a pre-teen, I *still* hear that annoying little boy's whiny voice in my head.)

  6. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Boo used to be terrified of Swiper. And would run around screaming in terror NO SWIPING!

    1. Swiper's pretty scary. I don't even know why they still hang around him. He's the text book definition of a bad friend.

Bug answers every question with "THE MAP!!"

      For example,
      Dora: "Say, Swiper, no swiping!"
      Bug: "THE MAP!!! THE MAP!!!!"

    1. Oooh, accents! We haven't started in on them yet.

Dora's pronunciation annoys me the most: "We've got to go up the mou-ain!" No, Dora! Enunciate! It's a mounTain!!

  8. We haven't been exposed to Dora yet, but by the sounds of it will be giving her a wide berth.

  9. We call her Dumb Dora in this house - but the kids have never been exposed to her. MIL tries to buy pink Dora stuff for TFG who promptly gives it to OFG (he's rather fond of his pink Dora handbag it is the perfect size for toy car storage)and makes retching sounds lol

    1. That would be a nice response. Peanut is a text-book Dora lover, and Bug is following in her footsteps. I'm trying to avoid the princessification of my girls, but it's like stemming a tsunami with a sponge.

    1. **correct response**

She is a cartoon character aimed at 3-5 year olds. She "explores". Apparently her parents are willfully negligent, because she is supposed to be six-sh, but they let her (and her talking monkey sidekick) roam around in jungle full of crocodiles and spiders. But at least she is a better role model than most of the other girly girl tv characters.

    2. She's not a dinosaur then?
