I am a very responsible and proactive mother.
I teach my babies to do chores.
Especially the ones they are capable of.
Like laundry (oh yeah!)
And setting the table.
But my favorite?
My very favorite?
(Remember, we live in Canberra, it's increasingly chilly.)
It's having them get the chook eggs in the morning, and letting the ladies out to play.
It's cold out there.
And it's an early-in-the-morning job. (I'm not at my best then.)
But the kids? LOVE IT.
And all I need to do is help put on the baby's gumboots.
Parenting win!
I can see you now, standing in the door waiting for the girls to bring back the eggs and turning them into something yummy to warm their little hands:)
ReplyDeleteAm I in my pink flannel pjs? Cause then you would be perfectly correct! ;)
DeletePeanut always asks for "smashed eggs", it's her version of scrambled.
Why of course, and an apron:)
DeleteIt's so good to hear of kids doing chores as a matter of course and if they enjoy as well, so much the better. I have abiding memories, as the youngest of five, having to empty all the family 'guzundas' first thing in the morning - NOT one of my favourite chores! - but we all had things to do and didn't get pocket money until we were old enough to have an allowance; then we were expected to pay for anything we wanted. ReplyDeleteThat's a classic love it, can just see it. My kids would love it also and I sure as hell wouldn't be going out in the freezing cold. Gotta love kids they just don't feel the cold and the older I get the more I do. Jodie
ReplyDeleteThey don't feel it AT ALL. in fact I usually have to convince them not to stay out there and jump on the trampoline. With the eggs. Oh dear...
DeleteI knew it! Parents DO have children to be slaves! ;)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work and stay warm.
I would agree... Except I spend the other 23 hours of the day (literally, unfortunately, Bug's not sleeping) slaving over stuff for them....
DeleteI no longer dust, scoop dog poop, or empty or reload the dishwasher...My kids do it.
ReplyDeleteUnless they DON'T do it, then I totally have to do the dishwasher part. Which totally stinks. Start chores young, and they won't be shocked to assume responsibility as they age.
Good job!
The only thing you miss by not going out with them is - pics!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is genius. When my son is old enough I was considering telling him that vacuuming is the latest Japanese game called "Vacuum Vacuum Revolution" with extra points for getting right to the back of the couch. It's my dream.
